about

In this album, Gabriella Tal has joined her song with the beautiful poetry of Bhau Kalchuri. Meher Baba (1894-1969), Indian spiritual Master and inspiration to Bhau, taught Bhau to write in the “ghazal” format. Bhau (1927-2013) wrote hundreds. Gabriella was blessed to have time with Bhau and sing him her versions. His last guidance to her was to record these 14.

The theme of the recording is this time we are living in – clearly one of “great change”. One of Bhau’s ghazals speaks of this and it felt apropos to dedicate this group of songs to the times we’re living in – Meher Baba has called our era the time of his Manifestation. In difficult days, these songs bring hope and healing, written from the deep love of Bhau to his Beloved Avatar Meher Baba.

Gabriella Tal sings and plays along with David Miotke, pianist extraordinaire and Mark Malachi, her long-time musical compatriot. Phil Ludwig produces, Emily Frantz (from Mandolin Orange) plays luxurious violin and a chorus from Chapel Hill, NC rings out on the big numbers.

Cover art: Diane Cobb, also recently passed away and fine artist of the spiritual dimension. Always tuned in, Laura O'Keefe did the lovely layout.
